MY REVIEW: I received a review copy of “In Pursuit of a Family” by Shilpa Menon in exchange for an honest review.
I had earlier reviewed “Scars Do Heal” by the same author. The main characters in “Scars Do Heal”, i.e. Sonal and Ryan appear in “In Pursuit of a Family” as characters.
However the present story is about Ryan’s younger brother, Kevin Percy. Kevin is a successful architect but he feels that something is missing from his life. A chance encouncter with Zsofia at a Christmas party leaves him dazzled. Kevin digs into Zsofia’s background and upon finding out that she is studying architecture, ensures that she is offered a job as an intern in his firm.
Zsofia turns out to be a damsel in distress, having being orphaned at a young age. Kevin acts like a true knight in shining armour, even offering Zsofia a place to stay when she needs one. Zsofia also meets Kevin’s family and gets to know them.
Zsofia and Kevin eventually confess their feelings for each other and everything appears to be hunky dory. But of course a misunderstanding has to happen and Zsofia walks out of Kevin’s life. So the reader needs to read the story to find out if there is a happy ending for Zsofia and Kevin.
I did not enjoy this story as much as I enjoyed “Scars Do Heal”. Somehow, I did not connect with Zsofia’s character, the way that I connected with Kevin’s. All in all, the book is a decent read!
