Book: Key to My Soul  tempImageForSave.JPG

Author: Probal Mazumdar

Genre: Romance Fiction

Published by: Pblishing

Number of pages: 297 pages

My Rating: 4/5

MY REVIEW: I was provided with a copy of the book by the author Probal Mazumdar in exchange for an honest review.

The story has all the elements of a Bollywood movie: childhood sweethearts who part in unexplained circumstances, letters that are written but not read for years, villains that go around beating up the hero, the heroine in a coma and a key that contains all the secrets of the past.

The book begins when Siddharth gets a phone call from an unknown caller, informing him that his old girlfriend Hazel was hurt in a car accident and is now lying in a coma in a hospital in Jamshedpur. The mysterious caller also informs him that there are letters written by Hazel to him that he needs to read. Siddharth has not heard from Hazel in seventeen years and the phone call sends him in a tizzy.

Siddharth revisits the past in which Hazel and he met in school, became friends and then fell in love. But Hazel abruptly leaves town and Siddharth becomes a victim of nasty gossip. However, Siddharth moves on in life, goes to college, starts his career and even gets married, though his marriage later fails.

Siddharth goes to Jamshedpur to be by Hazel’s side. There he faces many old memories and is given a “key” that unlocks the secrets of the past.

The story is certainly riveting. The reader is faced with several questions. Why did Hazel leave town? Who is the unknown caller? Will Hazel recover from her coma? Can Siddharth and Hazel finally be together?

“Key to My Soul” is certainly a heart-warming story. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and I certainly recommend it to everyone. The book is available on Amazon and in select bookstores.

BOOK REVIEW: MY MUTE GIRLFRIEND

Book: My Mute GirlfriendtempImageForSave

Author: Himanshu Rai

Genre: Romance Fiction

Published by: Srishti Publishers

Number of pages: 208 pages

My Rating: 4/5

MY REVIEW: The author Himanshu Rai ensured that I get a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

The story is told in the first person by Rohan Verma. It begins with a text message from his old girlfriend Vaidehi, whom he has not heard from in five years. Before Rohan can reply to the message, his phone has an unfortunate accident.

This message from Vaidehi leads Rohan to think about his past and reminisce about his relationship with Vaidehi. The story is gripping and interesting as we read about how Rohan gets admission in an engineering college, meets Vaidehi and enters into a relationship with her.

This book will certainly appeal to people who have studied in hostels during their school and college days. In any case it certainly makes the reader nostalgic about school and college events and childhood loves and crushes.

Just when things are going well between Rohan and Vaidehi, there is a hurdle in their relationship. Rohan makes all attempts to repair the situation but Vaidehi remains “mute” and refuses to speak up and share her problem with Rohan.

Rohan however, rises to the situation and tries to come out of it in the best possible manner.

This text from Vaidehi leaves Rohan in a tizzy and he tries his best to track her down.

So the reader will have to read “My Mute Girlfriend” to find out if Rohan and Vaidehi can rekindle their love. What was the reason for Vaidehi remaining mute all these years.

My Mute Girlfriend is recommended as an engrossing love story which will surely appeal to everyone. The book is available on Amazon and other e-commerce sites as well as in book stores.

Author: Maniissh Aroraa

Genre: Fiction

Published by: Peacock Books

Number of pages: 186 pages

My Rating: 3.5/5

MY REVIEW: The author Maniissh Aroraa sent me a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Though the story is told from the point of view of a young boy, I feel that the story is relevant to adults also.

Shlok is a teenager who lives in a small town in North India with his parents. They are a regular middle class family, wherein the father harbours a dream that Shlok will become a doctor. However, Shlok is not the best of students academically.

The family gets a new neighbour, a young girl of Shlok’s age, Natasha. Shlok, like any teenage boy of his age, tries to impress her and make a good impression on her.

Certain incidents take place in the story that inspire Shlok to change his ways and try to improve in his academics as well as other aspects of his life. At the same time, Shlok and Natasha find themselves falling in love with each other. But there also, the path is not entirely smooth.

Though Shlok admittedly tries hard to self-improve, he does have to face many setbacks in trying to reach his goals.

Does Shlok succeed in fulfilling his father’s dream of becoming a doctor? Can Shlok and Natasha be together as a couple? One needs to read the book to find out.

The story appeals to teenagers and adults alike as the message the story gives can be understood and applied by everyone. The book “Sunshine Town” can be ordered on Amazon, Flipkart and Infibeam. It is also available in select bookstores.

Published by:

Number of pages: 263 pages

My Rating: 4/5

MY REVIEW: The author Neha Sharma was kind enough to send me a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed reading this book as it beautifully depicts the problems faced by young women in India today when they have to go through an arranged marriage.

Avni is a young woman living in Delhi, who loves her work and her independence. She is pressured by her parents to “meet” this great guy from Norway, Ansh.

Avni meets Ansh and finds him nice enough but at first she is unable to have romantic feelings about him. However, she does get engaged to him and all the engagement and wedding planning starts to take place. Still, Avni is afraid of losing her independence.

Every person in India can relate to the descriptions given about the chaos that takes place whenever there is a family function.

Does Avni finally marry Ansh? Is she able to overcome her fears and commit to him? As I cannot give away the plot, everyone will have to read the book to find out.

I recommend this book to readers as it is a realistic and relatable story. The book “Wedding Pickle” can be ordered on Amazon.

BOOK SUMMARY: Faila is a young girl who is unaware of her legacies and powers but upon knowing them, tries to save her empire.

MY REVIEW: I read an e-book of “Spirit Child” by Saumya Arora sent by The Book Planet PR in exchange for an honest review.

The story begins with Faeria being under attack by the daevils and Faernir fleeing the city and taking shelter in the house of a young woman.  In time, he has a daughter Faila but Faernir and his wife are killed when she is an infant.

Faila grows up not knowing that she is the heir to the kingdom of Faeria. She is completely unaware of her powers. When she is fifteen years old, she is duped by a faer turned daevil and taken unawares to Andhkaara, the leader of the devils. On the way, she learns that the faers have many powers and abilities like shapeshifting, thoughtseeking and spellsinging.

Faila is told by Andhkaara that he wants her to bear him an heir so that he can rule over Faeria. Of course Faeria refuses to comply and is held as a prisoner by the daevils.

Faila is rescued by Faerswon, her father’s old friend. He then helps her on her quest to regain her empire and helps her by training her to develop her abilities. They gather many allies in their journey but are constantly in danger from the daevils.

Many people stay loyal to Faila and many people turn against her. In their attempts to regain the kingdom of Faeria, they suffer the loss of many loved ones. Faila also falls in love but she is thought to be too young to be in a romantic relationship.

Does Faila take back her kingdom and vanquish Andhkaara? The reader needs to read the book to find out.

“Spirit Child” is probably the type of book that would appeal to a younger audience. It is a fairly interesting and easy read. The book can be ordered from Amazon and Flipkart.

BOOK REVIEW: THE PROMISES OF LOVE

Book: The Promises of LovetempImageForSave

Author: Roozan Aggarwal

Genre: Romance Fiction

Published by: BecomeShakespeare.com

Number of pages: 167 pages

My Rating: 2.5/5

MY REVIEW: I have received a review copy of “The Promises of Love” from the author Roozan Aggarwal in exchange for an honest review.

The author has tried to depict an ideal love story in his debut book.

Siddhant and Shivyanka meet in school and become the best of friends. They part when Shivyanka’s parents admit her to another school. However, Shivyanka extracts a promise from Siddhant that he will do well in his studies.

Siddhant takes his promise to heart and starts to perform well academically. Fate decrees that the two childhood friends meet again and they now fall in love. But they face the customary hurdles in their relationship.

The two friends part again and embark on their individual paths but meet yet again.

The story revolves around Siddhant and Shivyanka’s friendship and later romance and whether they finally get their happy ending or not.

The enjoyment of the book is marred by the numerous spelling and grammatical errors in the book.
