LOOP BANDS FOR RESISTANCE

Anyone who works out regularly must have observed that sometimes monotony sets in and it becomes necessary to incorporate some variety in the regular workout routine.

One such way of getting an effective workout is by using loop bands.

In the video, I have tried to give viewers a sample of just some of the exercises that can be done using loop bands.

Loop bands are inexpensive and can be purchased online as well. They come in a variety of resistances like light, medium and heavy. They are compact and light and can be carried anywhere, including when one is travelling.

Loop bands can be used by beginners or people who are advanced in their workouts. They can be used for glut activation as well as for adding resistance in a bodyweight workout.

I have been using Organic Spirulina Tablets manufactured by Parry since the last month now and I would like to post about the advantages of the product.

The recommended dose for the tablets is 4 tablets a day, after meals. I have been taking two tablets after lunch and two tablets after dinner.

WHY CIRCUIT TRAINING IS A MUST!

I am sure that anyone who works out regularly has done a circuit training in their workout routines. Still for the uninitiated, I will explain that circuit training is when you go through a variety of exercises that target different muscle groups without resting in between. The resulting workout is part strength training and part cardio which makes the workout extremely effective.

The next question that will be raised is why is a circuit training necessary? One of the many benefits of circuit training is that an effective full body workout can be done, even if you have only 15 minutes of time.

Circuit training challenges your whole body and sends your metabolism soaring. For those who did not comprehend the exercises shown in the video, I have photos of some of the exercises shown in it.

For an ideal circuit training, it is necessary to do 10-20 repetitions of each exercise ranging between 30 seconds to 2 minutes before moving on to the next exercise. However, circuit training can be done as per the time available and convenience.

WHY WE NEED TO PLANK

Planking is a fitness exercise that can feel like torture! I have always disliked planking and usually try to avoid it. But it was my trainer Mr. Praful Raval who incorporated planks as part of my workout regime and who ensured that I plank on a regular basis.

Plank exercises are deceptive as in they appear to be very simple but are actually not. The maximum benefit of a plank is when it is performed correctly. The numerous variations in the plank are the reverse and the side planks.

My trainer has explained to me that planking is essential for the core and the back muscles. As we all know, it is a strong core that contributes to our overall fitness.

But that led me to ask about why I had to do the side plank as well? I found it as strenuous as the regular plank, if not more!

I came to know that the side plank tones the sides of the abdominal muscles giving a good shape to the belly. Moreover, when we raise our body in the side plank position, our arms and shoulders take a lot of our body weight, which helps in strengthening our arms and shoulders.

Performing plank exercises help in improving our concentration as we need to maintain a perfect balance between our arms, legs and the rest of our body. Our technique of performing the plank is as important as the plank itself.

Plank exercises of any variation are the most effective when done after any exercise that help in reducing body fat.

The health benefits of the plank and side plank are many. I would urge everyone to incorporate plank exercises as part of their workout regimes. Go ahead and plank, you will surely appreciate the benefits of planking in a few months once you start seeing the results in your arms and your core!

ROCK THAT FOAM ROLLER!

A couple of months ago, my trainer Mr. Praful Raval gifted me an odd-looking object! Being used to gifts that were edible or cosmetic, at first I couldn’t decipher what it was and inquired about it.

He informed me that it is a foam roller and that we would be incorporating the usage of it prior to our workout sessions.

Being excited about this gift, I imagined that it would give me a soothing and relaxing effect and I was very delighted to take it out of its cover and start using it as a warmup to my workout session.

But my joy was short-lived as it proved to be a painful device rather than an enjoyable one. To put it very simply: the foam roller hurt every part of my body I placed it under!

Thereafter I managed to stash it away and hoped and prayed that my trainer would forget about it! But I had no such luck! As soon as he returned from one of his trips, just before commencing my workout session, he asked me where my foam roller was.

I admitted to him that I had left it in the boot of my car. He made me get it and then put me through a series of foam roller exercises. He also explained to me why he insisted that I use it!

Even the simple exercise of bending down and touching your toes becomes easier after having used a foam roller. Using it before starting your workout improves your mobility and flexibility considerably. I observed that I could do my exercises in a smoother fashion after going through my pre-workout foam roller routine. I also felt that my running was more fluid after I used the foam roller prior to my run.

The foam roller can also be used post-workout. When used after your workout, it speeds up your recovery and reduces muscle soreness. It can also be used to target injured areas, but this should only be done under the guidance of your trainer.

There are a number of simple exercises that can be performed on the foam roller. It is necessary to perform each exercise at least 10 to 12 times for maximum benefit. While using the foam roller, it is important to do your exercise slowly and correctly, feeling the movement rather than trying to rush through it. It is also equally important to pay attention to your posture and follow the instructions of your trainer carefully.

Essentially, the foam roller is a form of self-massage that increases blood flow to your muscles and creates better mobility, helps with muscle recovery and improves your overall performance during a workout.

Now after having used it a few times, I have to reluctantly concede that he was right. The foam roller does take some getting used to, but it ceases to be as painful as it initially feels. Though I still grimace and flinch while using it, the result that it gives me is worth the discomfort. I definitely recommend the foam roller to be added as a valuable tool in the kit of every fitness fanatic.
