BOOK SUMMARY: Faila is a young girl who is unaware of her legacies and powers but upon knowing them, tries to save her empire.

MY REVIEW: I read an e-book of “Spirit Child” by Saumya Arora sent by The Book Planet PR in exchange for an honest review.

The story begins with Faeria being under attack by the daevils and Faernir fleeing the city and taking shelter in the house of a young woman.  In time, he has a daughter Faila but Faernir and his wife are killed when she is an infant.

Faila grows up not knowing that she is the heir to the kingdom of Faeria. She is completely unaware of her powers. When she is fifteen years old, she is duped by a faer turned daevil and taken unawares to Andhkaara, the leader of the devils. On the way, she learns that the faers have many powers and abilities like shapeshifting, thoughtseeking and spellsinging.

Faila is told by Andhkaara that he wants her to bear him an heir so that he can rule over Faeria. Of course Faeria refuses to comply and is held as a prisoner by the daevils.

Faila is rescued by Faerswon, her father’s old friend. He then helps her on her quest to regain her empire and helps her by training her to develop her abilities. They gather many allies in their journey but are constantly in danger from the daevils.

Many people stay loyal to Faila and many people turn against her. In their attempts to regain the kingdom of Faeria, they suffer the loss of many loved ones. Faila also falls in love but she is thought to be too young to be in a romantic relationship.

Does Faila take back her kingdom and vanquish Andhkaara? The reader needs to read the book to find out.

“Spirit Child” is probably the type of book that would appeal to a younger audience. It is a fairly interesting and easy read. The book can be ordered from Amazon and Flipkart.
